Ease of data entry

Most people write dates on the I9 numerically, but e-Verify requires that a month is entered alpha ("Nov" instead of "11"). And, once a field is "full" (such as a Social Secuity number, the cursor should advance to the next field automatically rather than requiring a TAB. And when a driver's license is submitted, the user must select the state from a list. The process would be much faster if the user could enter the Post Office abbreviation.

  1. I also liked it better when the date fields were just one open field because we have the employee fill out section 1 of the I-9 electronically and then copy/paste that into E-Verify to minimize typos. I used to be able to copy and paste those fields as well but now I have to stop and complete the month, day, and year independently using a mouse.

  2. It is particularly sad that the Web API "certification" requires we implement all the methods when we'd just like to implement EmpInitBPVerif to avoid the entire data entry effort. It makes no sense and is the only API that requires "certification" as well as having to implement all the methods rather than just the ones you want to use.

  3. I think that is a security code that why it require that all certification and implement all the methods

    1. I have no idea what that means? There's no security in requiring I implement unneeded APIs. Certification is pointless because anybody can POST data to their web services API, and the successful/failure of the API is whether the credentials are valid and the request is valid. After all, after being "certified" my code can be altered so it no longer works as expected, etc.

  4. Forget drop-down lists entirely. Let me key in the number of the month.

This is odd as I've NEVER filled out another government form that asks me to write out the month alphabetically.

    Today's date is 08-14-2013.

  5. It is nice to have the alpha for dates since some of the foreign documents transpose month & day. The step provides less errors.

  6. To make the data entry easier e-verify should add the expiration date to the screen that asks for the type of id/dl and state. This would eliminate the need to be flipping from 1 page to the other.

  7. I would like to seed documents that have one issuing authority defaulted to the correct issuing authority. Others that have multiple issuing authorities such as the Social Security card present a drop-down that includes the valid choices.
