mismatched names

DHS and SSA should ask employers to post a sign in theirs office that states that the names on their SS card should be the same as the names they put on the form I-9. When jobs hunters fill out their form I-9 for employment, this would save time for both parties and avoid letters bean sent to either parties about mismatch names.

Form I-9

Bad Form

I am a big fan of E-Verify. But, whoever designed the new Form I-9 (OMB No. 1615-0047) obviously never had to complete the E-Verify form on-line. Having done so for thousands of employees, I was dismayed to discover that the new I-9 consists of 2 pages with essential information on each side. Come-on guys! The least you could have done was put all the information required for E-Verify on one side with the fields... more »

TUTORIAL MANDATE

When a tutorial is required because of changes, it would be great if upon logging into E-Verify that it would tell us that the next time we log in we will need to take the tutorial before being able to use E-Verify. That way we know we have to allow time for that the next time.

Match new I-9 form

E-verify needs to update their screens to better follow the new I-9 form. With the new form being on 2 pages, it is inconvenient to have to constantly flip from page one to page two, back and forth while completing the E-verify. Especially since we print the I-9s double-sided.

3-day rule

I would like to see the 3-day rule be changed to 6-day rule. If I hire someone on Tuesday, then I am out the rest of the week, I've missed the 3-day window; if I'm schudule to be on vacation for a week; there is no one else, in our company, that could do this. Most people take a week vacation. I would think most companies have only one (1) PR/HR person. I'm strongly asking that this be changed.

Form I-9

Optional E-Mail

I just read through the instructions for the new I-9 and saw that fields for an email address and phone number have been added to section one. According to the instructions, the fields are optional. However, the fact that entering this information is optional is not noted on the actual I-9 form. The fields on the I-9 should read: E-mail Address (optional) Telephone Number (optional). I can see where a lot of people will... more »

Form I-9

List of Issuing Authorities

Since the form requires the employer to list the documents' issuing authorities in Section 2, it would be great if I-9 Central and/or M-274 would have a section that explains who the issuing authorities are for the List of Acceptable Documents. And maybe include screenshots of where the information can be found on those documents. Thank you!

DHS Nonconfirmations

We've received a lot of DHS nonconfirmations lately mostly for our foreign national students. When they have called in to contest their case, invariable you have been requesting their SEVIS number. If this is what you are requesting, can a field be added to the screen where the SEVIS number can be entered? Maybe as an optional field. This would save us time in verifying the individuals eligibility to work.

Email Reminders

There are a variety of tasks that might need to be completed - closing a case, the re-verification of eligibility for someone whose documents are expiring, etc. Why not email a reminder that there is something to be done? I have employees with documents that don't expire until 2019. Ok, hang on a second, let me flip my calendar to seven years hence and mark on it to re-check their documents. If I am not here, since... more »
