DHS and SSA should ask employers to post a sign in theirs office that states that the names on their SS card should be the same as the names they put on the form I-9. When jobs hunters fill out their form I-9 for employment, this would save time for both parties and avoid letters bean sent to either parties about mismatch names.
We would like to receive an email with the I9 Expiring Credentials information 90, 60 or 30 days prior to the expiriration date. What are your thoughts?
Also, if the applicant has an email address on file (your government records), can they too get an alert reminder to renew their credentials?
People are still cheating the E-verify and to me it is not fulll proof. I have done a lot of investigations and I know for sure that some immigrants who do not have documents to work here in the United States of America impersonate people who have legit documents and use their information to beat the E-verify. I am ready to submitt proof. The HomeHealth sector is one of the areas.
I have downloaded a list of employers from my state (Rhode Island) that have signed on to use E-Verify. How can I know if they are actually using the system, or if this is just a ruse to make people believe they are using it? Perhaps you could expand these lists to include the number of employees entered for verification and the number accepted or rejected. I'm cynical and have every right to be!
Job applicants AFTER accepting a job offer from an employer should be able to conduct a Self Check E-Verify at the hiring site in private with notification of authorized employment to employer. Since the process emulates the Form I-9/E-verify process there can be no discrimination issues and could replace the entire Form I-9 process saving great expense and time for employer while protecting the employee and employer... more »
Currently these 2 programs give conflicting advice on how to handle the storage of photos when using the photo matching tool within e-verify. E-verify guidance contradicts EOPF guidance.
if I want to hire a person for a week a day or permantly I should be able to ask for a social security # or a driver's license with a photo I.D.if the employment is to be any length of time.Any legitimate person will hve one or both of those to apply for a job.I should be able to access this database easily from any computer.
As part of our pre-employment screening, it would be great to be able to eVerify to be sure the candidate was legally able to work in the US. As with some other screenings, it could be after a conditional offer of employment was made.
the name mismatch seems to be a topic that not too many people are giving ideas on. Is it because its too complex. The SSA and USCIS and DHS could create a one month discussion on E Verity Listens on this very important topic. This would reduce letter being sent out when the name does not match the DHS data base on the form I-9
Bit of a timing issue with foreigners who were previously in the US and then come back who already have SSNs. The SSA says wait ten days before applying on SS-5 for an update to the SSN record because it takes them that long to get the information from DHS. However the employee can file the SS-5 then go to the employer who has to run E-verify on them (might even be the same day). There is a field for "doesn't have... more »
When my company hires foreign students, they don't always have an SSN because they are newly arrived to the country. This makes it difficult to initiate a case in E-Verify since they are applying and waiting for SSA to issue them an SSN and a card. It would be great if I could enter the information into E-Verify without the SSN.
Specify what names can and should be entered and in which other names such as maiden name are the most important to enter. Also, does E-Verify parse the names entered and attempt to match with SSA on maiden name?
When an employee is waiting for an SSN (which can take a month or more), but their project ends and/or they leave the country, the e-verify check can only be run when the SSN is received. This is fine. However, the e-verify check results should be reckoned as the status was on the date the I-9 form was completed and not the day the SSN was received. If an employee's project lasts for less than a month and they leave the... more »
With the white house's heavy focus on helping Vets get employed, they added a tax credit component for any vet who's been unemployed for more than 4 weeks. When a company hires a vet, they need to submit documentation to support the fact that they are a vet, the date they were discharged - typically a DD214 for suffices. However, if there was a way through everify that this information could be online, it would help... more »
Global Entry and SENTRI cards are used as passport cards at ports of entry. Why are they not recognized by E-verify?
