What is the purpose of E-verify?

I would want to believe that the reason why the USCIS established the E-verify is to prevent people who are not authorize to work here in the USA from doing so. Whoever dreamt of the ideal had good intentions but lacked the full-proof means of preventing the unauthorized from doing so. Many people beat the system through impersonation. The E-verify only ask you to put the information to be able to determine the eligibility... more »

Requested a photo of my green card from employer based in india

I got hired to a new job, but a 3rd party ( employment agency) taking care of my paperwork and I-9. I filled out the I-9 form, but they requested a picture of my permanent resident card front and back. I should send it to them through email. Is that legal? Last time I checked, it was an HR compliance to keep a copy of personal documents such as DL, passport, Social Security Card etc... They working out from India with... more »

Why Mandate?

I disagree with any mandated use of E-Verify. At a time when most employers are understaffed, there should be some allowance for common sense and old-fashioned trust. Yes, it should be illegal to hire undocumented workers; however, employers should have the option of trusting HR personnel to review the completed I-9 and documentation, sign off on it if they honestly believe the documents to be legitimate, then be done... more »

Fix link in the email notices for E-Verify Connection PDF

The link to the PDF of E-Verify Connection contained in the email from E-Verify announcing a new newsletter points to the previous newsletter when the email is received. Later, the link does point to the current newsletter. What could be happening is that the name of the PDF file is generic and not unique to the current newsletter. This problem could be easily fixed by using a unique file name for the current newsletter.... more »

Include FNC review cases in authorization statistics

With the proposed new E-Verify enhancements for FNC reviews, such cases should be included in the overall statistics reported by E-Verify in the same manner that TNC results are reported. This should increase the percentage of E-Verify cases that result in employment authorized. The FNC review cases could be reported separately to show the value of the enhancement.

E-Verify FAQ Bread Crumb Work Like Browser Back Button

Clicking the Frequently Asked Questions 'bread crumb' displayed at the top of an E-Verify FAQ page such as:

"Home > Frequently Asked Questions > E-Verify: Before You Enroll", the user is taken to the generic USCIS FAQ page at:

http://www.uscis.gov/faq-page

instead of back to the main E-Verify FAQ page. This makes it cumbersome for a user to navigate between the various E-Verify FAQ pages. The 'bread crumb' link should... more »

Display Idea Number in Idea Lists

The Idea Number displays when a specific idea is viewed, but not when viewing a list of ideas. Please display the Idea Number for each idea in a topic list. This would make it easier to identify duplicate ideas or ideas that are so similar that they should be combined since the user would not need to open each idea individually.

Consistent Menu Options and Page Titles Under Publications

Standardize the menu options under Publications on the USCIS public E-Verify page to match the page titles displayed on each page. It appears that the standard page title is to list Publications: [page title is the same as the menu option]. The menu options and page titles for Memos, Foreign Language Resources, Notices and Letters, and Participation Notices are inconsistent. Perhaps the solution is to drop the text "Publications:"... more »
