I would want to believe that the reason why the USCIS established the E-verify is to prevent people who are not authorize to work here in the USA from doing so. Whoever dreamt of the ideal had good intentions but lacked the full-proof means of preventing the unauthorized from doing so. Many people beat the system through impersonation. The E-verify only ask you to put the information to be able to determine the eligibility... more »
E-Verify is part of Discrimination Policy against Immigrants which strengthen employers to Exploitation. If it is honest the purpose of E-Verify should apply to every single employee by every employer. After all Corporations/employers Dictate Policies & Laws.
The new hover tips are annoying, and when a photo matching dialogue comes up, the hover tip covers up the photo. There should be an option to disable it, or at least only have them appear if a required field is left blank.
Please deal with the moronic, script-kiddie password policy. Didn't we discover, years ago, that short passwords with goofy rules that have to be changed frequently reduces security? Hasn't there been enough research on that topic? For starters, for those of us who don't HAVE to use e-verify, the password policy is a frustrating, silly impediment to compliance. 14 characters is much too short, and your team ought... more »
The E-Verify manuals do not consistently include section numbers for all topics in the Table of Contents. Issues like this erode the public trust. If E-Verify can't get the little things right then there are also errors in the E-Verify system.
When an E-Verify case is closed as Employment Authorized, display and allow to be printed a notice that indicates if the employee's work authorization needs to be reverified and the date the employee's work authorization expires. The notice should include any extension of work authorization such as TPS or DED. Notices for the employer and the employee should be provided.
Provide a report in E-Verify that lists all employees with a work authorization expiration date. The report should be available in time increments such as already expired, expires within the next 30/60/90/120/180/365 days, and employees with work authorization extended via TPS/DED. Employers can use the report to notify employees of the need to reverify work authorization.
Send an email notice to the employer and the employee (if the employee's email was entered in E-Verify) explaining that the employee's work authorization will expire in a number of days. A standard number of days such as 90, or whatever makes sense, could be used. A more useful approach would be to allow the employer to set the number of days for such notification in their E-Verify profile.
Add the hiring location's state to all case creation transactions. This would help make the report for states more usable since cases could be filtered by state. Also, there should be a state filter added when requesting the report for states to only show individuals hired in the state. The state field would also provide improved tracking for E-Verify since many employers using web services use a single MOU for all hiring... more »
With the proposed new E-Verify enhancements for FNC reviews, such cases should be included in the overall statistics reported by E-Verify in the same manner that TNC results are reported. This should increase the percentage of E-Verify cases that result in employment authorized. The FNC review cases could be reported separately to show the value of the enhancement.
Since it is likely that the employer will terminate an employee that receives a Final Nonconfirmation, it would seem to be better to model the FNC process after the TNC referral process. The FNC employment authorized email notice states that the employee is employment authorized, but that the employer MAY rehire the employee suggesting that the employer may choose to not rehire the employee even though the employee may... more »
When a user has submitted more than 25 ideas, the Ideascale application requires the user to move to the next page by clicking 2 or Next at the bottom of the page listing the user's ideas. When the user does this they are taken back to their main user page. To get to the list of the next 25 ideas the user must click on the (+) link to the right of the Ideas Contributed category. The functionality in Ideascale should take... more »
It would be helpful to post completed versions, perhaps watermarked as SAMPLE, TNC documents under the Publications option on the public DHS and private E-Verify websites. This would help employers and employers to better understand the documents and their usage.
The FAQ page on I-9 Central will only print the answers if the user first clicks all of the + signs to reveal the answers. A few suggestions to consider: 1. Provide a single button to reveal all answers rather than requiring the user to click each + sign individually. 2. When printing the FAQ page automatically print all of the answers. 3. Allow an individual question and answer to be printed without printing all FAQs.... more »
Standardize the I-9 Central and E-Verify FAQ pages so they look and work the same. For example the use of the + sign to display the answer, lines between questions, fonts used, and the drop-down topics list. The FAQ page on the public E-Verify site will only print the answers if the user first clicks the questions to reveal the answers. A few suggestions to consider: 1.
